Walter Gajewski’s Photography- 8/2018

Walter Gajewski is a Long Beach artist, having moved here from Buffalo, NY after the infamous Buffalo blizzard of ’77. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from the State University of NY at Buffalo, he accepted an artist-in-residence position with the Center for Creative and Performing Arts as a composer of electronic music. One of the highlights of that residency was a performance of his music at the Akademie der Kunst in Berlin, Germany.

For over 30 years, Walter held various positions at CSU Long Beach, most recently serving as Multimedia Coordinator. For the past two years, he participated as one of the official photographers for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in Louisiana.

It is Long Beach that provides Walter Gajewski with much of his photographic inspiration, whether he’s capturing shorebirds, street scenes, the unique and colorful Long Beach architecture, or industrial sites like the “Southeast Resource Recovery Facility.”

Long Beach Gas and Oil featured one of Walter’s photos in their 2016 calendar, and his “Sunset on Container Ship” won him a 2016 Sandy Award presented by the Long Beach Visitors and Convention Bureau.

He has had solo exhibits of his art at El Camino College in Torrence, and at both the Coffee Cup Cafe and Portfolio Cafe in Long Beach. Learn more at http://web.csulb.edu/~gajewski/multimedia/photos.html
